How to Pay With Bitcoin
A step-by-step guide to buying Bitcoin — and other major cryptocurrencies — on the platforms wholesale buyers already use, then paying for your BCW Distribution order in minutes, with no bank delays.
Getting Started
Why buyers are paying with crypto
Wholesale hemp and THCa purchases often run into card processor holds, bank flags, or outright account closures — a common headache in this industry. Paying with Bitcoin avoids that entirely: no chargebacks, no processor risk-review delays, and no bank cutoffs on order size. It also settles faster than ACH and works the same whether you’re ordering from across the state or across the country.
If you’ve never bought crypto before, the whole process — from downloading an app to completing your BCW order — takes about 15–25 minutes the first time, and under five minutes on every order after that.
Choose a Platform
Where to buy Bitcoin
Any of these four platforms will work. Pick based on what you already use — if you have a PayPal or Cash App account today, that’s usually the fastest path.
| Platform | Best For | Verification Time | Send to External Wallet |
|---|---|---|---|
| Coinbase | First-time buyers, most widely used | Minutes – a few hours | Yes |
| Kraken | Lower fees, larger orders | A few hours – 1 day | Yes |
| Cash App | Fastest mobile setup | Same day, often faster | Yes |
| PayPal | Buyers who already use PayPal | Instant, if already verified | Yes (one-time extra verification) |
Step-by-Step
Buying Bitcoin on each platform
Coinbase
Beginner-friendlyThe most widely used exchange in the U.S. — a solid default if you’ve never bought crypto before.
- Download the Coinbase app (or go to coinbase.com) and tap “Get Started.”
- Enter your name, email, and a secure password, then confirm your email address.
- Verify your identity — upload a government-issued ID and confirm your phone number. This step is required before you can buy.
- Add a payment method: a linked bank account (ACH) has the lowest fees; a debit card is faster but costs more.
- Tap “Buy/Sell,” select Bitcoin, and enter the dollar amount you want to purchase.
- Review the price and fees, then confirm. Your BTC lands in your Coinbase wallet within minutes.
Kraken
Lower feesA strong choice for larger orders — fees are generally lower than Coinbase, especially on bank transfers.
- Go to kraken.com and click “Create Account.” Enter your email, a username, and a password.
- Confirm your email, log in, and complete identity verification (ID upload, and sometimes a selfie) — required before your first buy.
- Add a funding method: bank transfer for the lowest fees, or a debit/credit card for an instant purchase.
- Click “Buy Crypto,” choose Bitcoin, and enter the amount you want.
- Review the order — price, spread, and fee — and confirm to complete the purchase.
- Your BTC appears in your Kraken wallet as soon as the order settles.
Cash App
Fastest setupIf you already use Cash App for everyday payments, this is usually the quickest path to your first BTC purchase.
- Install Cash App and set up an account with your phone number or email.
- Link a debit card or bank account, then complete identity verification (legal name, date of birth, last four digits of your SSN) — required to enable Bitcoin.
- From the home screen, tap the Bitcoin tile, then tap “Buy.”
- Choose a preset amount or tap the three dots to enter a custom dollar amount.
- Confirm with Face ID, Touch ID, or your Cash PIN.
- Your BTC is available in the Bitcoin tab immediately.
PayPal
Already have an account? If you have an existing verified PayPal account, this can be the fastest option of all — no new app to download.
- Log in to your PayPal account (or create one and complete identity verification if you’re new).
- Open the Crypto section, found under your Wallet.
- Select Bitcoin, enter the dollar amount, and choose your funding source — PayPal balance, bank, or card.
- Review the exchange rate and confirm the purchase.
- Before you can pay an outside merchant like BCW Distribution, PayPal requires a one-time additional identity check in your Crypto settings to unlock sending to external wallets. This only needs to be done once.
Checkout
Paying for your BCW Distribution order
Once you have BTC in any wallet — Coinbase, Kraken, Cash App, PayPal, or any standard Bitcoin wallet — paying for your order takes just a few minutes:
- Add your products to the cart and proceed to checkout as usual.
- At the payment step, select “Pay with Bitcoin / Crypto.”
- You’ll see a secure payment page with a QR code and the exact amount of BTC due for your order, locked in at the current exchange rate for a short window.
- Open your wallet app, tap Send or Pay, and scan the QR code — or copy and paste the address and amount manually if you’re on the same device.
- Confirm you’re sending a standard on-chain Bitcoin payment (not Lightning, unless the page specifically offers it), then approve the transaction in your wallet.
- Your order updates automatically once the payment is detected on the blockchain — no need to email a receipt. Full confirmation typically takes 10–60 minutes depending on network traffic, after which your order moves to processing.
Before You Send
Avoid these common mistakes
- CHECK THE ADDRESSConfirm the payment address shown in your wallet matches the invoice exactly before you hit send — blockchain transactions can’t be reversed.
- SEND BTC ON-CHAINUnless the payment page specifically offers Lightning Network, send a standard Bitcoin transaction. Sending the wrong network can result in lost funds.
- ONE-TIME INVOICEEach order generates a unique payment address and amount. Don’t reuse an old invoice or address for a new order.
- WATCH THE TIMERComplete payment before the invoice expires — the BTC price is only locked in while the invoice is open.
- SAVE YOUR RECEIPTScreenshot or note the transaction ID (TXID) your wallet gives you after sending, in case you need support with an order.
BCW Distribution also accepts USDC and USDT for orders that need price stability during checkout. The process is nearly identical: buy either coin on any platform above (usually under “Buy Crypto” alongside Bitcoin), then send it to the address shown on your BCW payment invoice.
Bitcoin’s price moves throughout the day. Your invoice locks in the BTC amount owed for a limited window so you’re never overpaying or underpaying due to price swings — just make sure to complete payment before that window closes. If it expires, simply refresh checkout for a new quote.
